CLIENT EXPERIENCE

Your Journey

Congratulations on setting your date and booking your venue! Finding the perfect outfit is a big step, and I know the guest list can be a bit of a moving target. Now, let's talk cake!

Choosing the right flavour, figuring out delivery logistics to your chosen venue, and determining the perfect size to feed all your guests can feel like big decisions amidst all the other wedding planning. That's where I come in.

Consider this your guide to what it's like working with me at Lulu's Primrose Bakery to create your dream wedding cake. I'm here to be your "cake bestie," guiding you through every step from initial design ideas and flavour tastings to the final presentation on your big day, ensuring your cake is as unique and special as your celebration.

YOUR JOURNEY

Step One

CHECK AVAILABILITY FOR YOUR WEDDING DATE

Once you have confirmed your date and venue, reach out by completing the online enquiry form. Share as much detail as possible, including planned guest numbers, venue, and cake style. You can also upload a ‘cake inspiration’ picture—this will give me a better idea of the cake style you have in mind.

Step Two

We will then discuss tones, textures, your venue, your floral choices, and, of course, wedding cake flavours. When combined, these elements make your dream wedding. If you would like to proceed and secure your date, you can do so with a 50% booking fee. Upon receipt of this deposit payment, I will issue your full order confirmation.

Step Three

Now it’s time for the enjoyable bit, trying some cake!

Undoubtedly a key moment in your wedding planning, and a truly unforgettable part of your wedding cake journey. Lulu’s Primrose Bakery provides a postal cake sampling service available to order from the READY TO ORDER page. Each box contains five flavours of your choice selected from the menu and delivered directly to your door for you to try in the comfort of your own home… best accompanied by a bottle of sparkling wine or a freshly brewed pot of tea, depending on what you enjoy most!

WEDDING CAKE TASTING

Step Four

Approximately four weeks prior to your wedding, I will reach out to finalise all the details with you, and this is when the final payment is also due. A week before your wedding, I will coordinate with your venue and other suppliers, such as your florist, for any cake flowers to ensure delivery and set-up of your cake. Additionally, I will be preparing to start on your cake and may have already created any sugar flowers or design elements to embellish it.

With the date approaching quickly, we aim to complete all administrative tasks and processes around this time, allowing you to enjoy the countdown to your special day.

FINAL DETAILS OF YOUR WEDDING CAKE

Step Five

I provide a full delivery and set-up service at your venue. I will liaise directly with your Wedding Coordinator at the venue to arrange this. I will set up your finished cake and provide any extra styling to the cake table as agreed with you. Wedding cakes are surprisingly heavy, so we typically transport each tier in individual boxes, allowing sufficient time to stack and assemble them on-site. Once I am satisfied with the setup, I will take some final photos and meet with your venue coordinator or caterers to discuss flavours, and the cake-cutting process.

At this point, you have nothing to worry about except relaxing, enjoying your day, admiring your cake design that has come to life, and, most importantly, tasting a large slice of your delicious wedding cake!

  • Semi-naked and Buttercream cakes are usually decorated with fresh flowers and these are usually arranged with your florist prior to your wedding date. Things to consider: most importantly, the flowers need to be food contact safe and have longevity to last the day without wilting. I am happy to liaise with your florist, to ensure we arrive at a similar time on the day.

  • I love the opportunity to make small sweet treats! Our vanilla snap biscuits make amazing wedding favours and can be personalised to your wedding.

  • My ethos is flavour first and I achieve this by using only the highest quality ingredients. Real butter, Belgium coverture chocolate, Swiss fondant and real vanilla.

  • Unfortunately, I do not. All my cakes contain gluten (wheat), dairy, egg and may contain nuts or traces of nuts.

  • Yes of course! Elopement weddings to North Devon are incredibly popular! I am very happy to make single tier cakes for a more small, intimate ceremony.

  • Every cake is bespoke made. Therefore, I do not have a set price list. However, as a guide, I advise:

A small 2 Tier Semi-Naked Cake to feed 30 guests starts at £295.00.

A small 2 Tier Ganache / Buttercream Cake to feed 30 guests starts at £420.00.

  • I see this as an essential part of my service. I will deliver your wedding cake direct to your venue and style it to look as beautiful as it can be.

  • Usually, my diary is open for up to 2 years in advance. Couples typically book 6-9 months prior to their wedding date. I recommend getting in touch as soon as you have a confirmed wedding date to avoid disappointment.

  • Absolutely, please get in touch to discuss further!
