Lulu’s Primrose Bakery – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions form the basis of your contract with Lulu’s Primrose Bakery. Your Order Confirmation and these Terms together represent the full agreement between us. Please ensure all details on your Order Confirmation are correct, as this is the document we will follow when creating your cake.

1. Basis of Sale

Any descriptions, images, sketches or illustrations provided by Lulu’s Primrose Bakery—whether on our website, social media, or shared directly with you—are intended as a guide to our style and craftsmanship. All such materials remain our intellectual property.

Price quotations are valid for 30 calendar days. Your date is secured only once your booking fee has been received. If payment is not made within 7 days of the invoice being issued, your date may be released and offered to another client.

A booking is confirmed only when your booking fee has been received and an Order Confirmation has been issued. At this point, a legally binding contract exists between you and Lulu’s Primrose Bakery.

2. The Cakes

We guarantee that on delivery your cake will:

  • Match the description set out in your Order Confirmation

  • Be crafted to the highest professional standard

  • Comply with all UK food safety regulations

As all our cakes are handmade, natural artistic variations are to be expected and celebrated as part of the bespoke process.

We cannot accept liability for dissatisfaction with the design where the cake has been produced in accordance with the approved Order Confirmation. It is your responsibility to check this document carefully.

Design Inspiration

Inspirational images will be used as creative direction only; we do not replicate other cake designers’ work. Your cake will always remain unique to you.

Colours & Materials

Exact colour matches cannot be guaranteed, though every effort will be made. If certain materials become unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute with items of equal or higher quality.

Allergens

Cakes are produced in an environment where nuts, gluten, milk, eggs and other allergens are present. People with these allergies should not consume our cakes.

Sugar Flowers

Sugar flowers may contain wires or supports and are not intended to be eaten.

Storage & Consumption

Your cake is designed to be enjoyed on the day of your event. Leftovers should ideally be consumed within 3 days.
Fondant cakes must not be refrigerated. Buttercream and semi-naked cakes may be refrigerated if required.

All cakes remain the property of Lulu’s Primrose Bakery until paid for in full.

3. Fresh Flowers

To maintain complete quality control, consistency, and food safety, all fresh flowers used on your cake will be sourced, prepared, and arranged exclusively by Lulu’s Primrose Bakery.

We generally do not work with florist-supplied flowers or accept flowers provided by any other source.

This allows us to ensure:

  • Flowers are food-safe and correctly prepared

  • Colours and varieties complement your cake design

  • The final presentation meets our exacting standards

Fresh flowers will be applied during setup at your venue unless otherwise discussed.

4. Delivery and Collection

Please check the delivery details shown on your Order Confirmation. We deliver directly to your venue on the agreed date. While a precise delivery time cannot be guaranteed, a delivery window will be provided, and we will liaise with the venue to arrange a smooth setup.

Delivery includes:

  • Safe transportation

  • On-site assembly

  • Styling and placement of fresh flowers

  • Professional presentation of your cake

Once the cake has been delivered and photographed in perfect condition, responsibility transfers to the venue. We cannot accept liability for any damage occurring after delivery.

If the venue’s cake stand is unsuitable, we reserve the right not to use it to ensure the stability and safety of your cake.

Force Majeure

In rare circumstances outside our reasonable control (e.g., extreme weather, accidents, road closures, public unrest), delivery may become impossible. While every effort will be made, we cannot be held responsible for events beyond our control.

5. Price and Payment

Your cake price will be stated in your Order Confirmation. No VAT is charged.

A 50% non-refundable booking fee is required for all wedding cakes. The remaining balance must be paid by the date specified. Work may be paused if payments are late, and availability of ingredients or decorative items cannot be guaranteed if delays occur.

Cake tasting boxes may be purchased through our website prior to booking.

6. Cancellations, Postponements & Alterations

Cancellations by You

  • More than 90 days before the event: booking fee refundable

  • 90 days to 1 month before the event: booking fee non-refundable

  • Less than 1 month before the event: booking fee + full balance non-refundable

Cancellations must be made in writing.

Cancellations by Us

In the very unlikely event that we must cancel, all monies paid (including your booking fee) will be refunded. Assistance will be provided to help you find another reputable cake designer.

Postponements

Postponements are treated the same as cancellations regarding payments. Subject to availability, your booking may be moved to a new date on one occasion only. Further postponements count as cancellations.

Design Changes

For wedding cakes, design changes may be made up to 90 days (3 months) before the event. Changes must be confirmed in writing. A new Order Confirmation will be issued.
Changes after this time may not be possible and will not reduce the balance owed.

Liability

Lulu’s Primrose Bakery’s liability is limited to the value of your order. We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses.
This does not affect liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

7. General Terms

All designs, sketches, images, concepts, and cake photographs remain the intellectual property of Lulu’s Primrose Bakery. We reserve the right to photograph your cake and use images for marketing, portfolios, competitions, and social media.

These Terms and your Order Confirmation form the entire agreement between us. Any amendments must be in writing.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions remain fully enforceable.

These Terms are governed by English law, and both parties agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.

8. Complaints

We take great pride in our craftsmanship and service. If you have any concerns, please contact us as soon as possible so we can resolve the matter promptly.

If your concern relates to cake quality, the cake—or remaining portions—must be returned within 48 hours of delivery so we can assess the issue.

We can only discuss complaints with the person who placed the original order.

Both parties agree not to publish negative comments online without first giving the other party an opportunity to resolve the issue amicably.
