Perched high above the dramatic North Devon coastline, Sandy Cove Hotel set the scene for Ro and Nick’s unforgettable tropical-inspired wedding day. With panoramic sea views, golden light and a joyful sense of celebration woven throughout, this wedding was a perfect blend of relaxed coastal elegance and bold, personality-led design.
From the vibrant florals to a flavour-forward wedding cake designed to surprise and delight, every detail felt intentional - a true reflection of Ro and Nick’s love for colour, warmth and unforgettable moments.
A Coastal Venue with Wow-Factor
Sandy Cove Hotel is one of Devon’s most striking wedding venues, renowned for its clifftop ceremony spaces and sweeping ocean views. Ro and Nick chose to embrace the natural drama of the setting, allowing the coastal landscape to frame their day while layering in tropical textures and colour.
The outdoor ceremony space created a breathtaking backdrop. At the same time, the reception flowed effortlessly indoors, where guests were treated to heartfelt speeches, laughter and live entertainment that kept the atmosphere buzzing well into the evening.

A Bold Tropical Wedding Theme
The tropical theme was beautifully brought to life through statement florals by Floral Art Devon. Rich coral tones, lush green foliage, and sculptural arrangements added warmth and vibrancy throughout the venue, from the tablescapes to the cake styling itself.
Pineapple details subtly echoed the theme, offering a playful yet refined nod to tropical luxury without ever feeling overdone.
The Wedding Cake: Tropical Flavours with a Modern Edge
Designed to complement the venue and florals, Ro and Nick’s wedding cake was a three-tier semi-naked design, allowing the texture of the sponge to show through softly, relaxed, elegant and contemporary.
Each tier featured a different tropical-inspired flavour combination:
Coconut & Lime
Passion Fruit & Mango
Chocolate Truffle
The cake was finished with a hand-painted gold pineapple topper, adding a bespoke, artisanal touch that tied the entire theme together beautifully. It was a cake designed not just to be admired, but truly enjoyed — flavour-led, generous and celebratory.

The day was captured perfectly by Jake Jane’s Photography, whose imagery tells the story of Ro and Nick’s wedding with warmth, authenticity and an incredible eye for detail.
