Set against the breathtaking coastline at Sandy Cove, this bespoke wedding cake was designed to bring the couple’s vision to life. Bringing Alex & Amy’s Wedding Vision to Life
Every wedding cake begins with a conversation, and Alex and Amy had a clear vision for their special day. Their style was elegant, timeless and understated, with soft blue and white tones inspired by the stunning coastal surroundings.
Their three-tier fondant wedding cake featured a clean, modern finish, beautifully framed with delicate pearl borders and clusters of handcrafted sugar flowers in soft blue and crisp white. The simplicity of the design allowed each handcrafted detail to shine while perfectly complementing the breathtaking sea views at Sandy Cove.
A Handmade Sugar Cockapoo with a Special Meaning
One of the most personal features of the cake was a handmade sugar Cockapoo, carefully modelled to resemble the couple’s much-loved dog.
Nestled playfully into the front of the cake, this adorable sugar model added personality and charm while making the design completely unique to Alex and Amy. It’s these meaningful details that transform a wedding cake into something truly personal and memorable.
Handmade Sugar Flowers
The cake was decorated with handmade sugar hydrangeas and blossoms, individually crafted and arranged to create soft movement throughout the design.
The pale blue flowers echoed the colour palette of the wedding and beautifully reflected the coastal setting, while the crisp white flowers kept the overall look elegant and timeless.
Creating sugar flowers by hand is one of my favourite parts of cake design, allowing every wedding cake to become completely bespoke.
150 Personalised Wedding Favours
Alongside the wedding cake, I also created 150 personalised iced wedding favour biscuits for each guest.
Every biscuit was individually decorated with elegant embossed detailing, personalised with the couple’s names and wedding date, before being carefully wrapped and finished with a beautiful blue ribbon to match the wedding styling.
Displayed at each place setting, the biscuits became both a thoughtful gift and part of the table décor, adding another bespoke touch to the celebration.
A Beautiful Summer Wedding at Sandy Cove
The wedding took place on one of the warmest summer days, with glorious sunshine and spectacular views across the North Devon coastline.
Warm weather always requires careful planning when delivering and setting up wedding cakes, particularly at coastal venues. Every element was transported, assembled and positioned with care to ensure the cake looked just as beautiful throughout the day as the couple had imagined.
With the stunning sea views behind it, the finished cake became a true focal point of the reception and perfectly reflected Alex and Amy’s vision.
